Mae Phim is sometimes named Laem Mae Phim, Laem stands for "cape'. In Thai we find the word Koh "island" (Koh Samet, Koh Chang).
Here you can really relax and leave all your stress behind you. The beach is long fine-grained and the water tempting blue and warm. But if you don't want to be lazy in the sun all the time there are plenty of other things to do. Why not try snorkeling or learn to dive. You can even go horse riding.
The market place in Mae Phim is different than in the big cities, not a lot of copy items etc. It's a charming place to meet the local people offering what's needed for the daily life: Textiles, tools, cloths, bags etc. It's a true experience of the genuine Thailand to go strolling about the market place. |
